Super Café Event...

Foundation for the Future

The inclusion of optional Conversation Cafés immediately following the presentation was an exciting development in creating and deepening public dialogue around important topics. Many attendees stayed after the presentation to talk about this crucial topic with other interested people.

Designer Babies? Immortality? Another Human Species?

Presentation by eminent genetics scholar
Dr. Gregory Stock
April 10, 2003 7pm
Town Hall, Seattle

Human genetic engineering is coming much faster than most people realize and will impact the future of humanity more than many of the big issues currently receiving our attention. Not a decade away, it is happening now and from now on. Want to hear more from one of the foremost experts in the implications of scientific advances in reproductive biology?

Dr. Gregory Stock, Dir. of UCLA's Program on Medicine, Technology, and Society, will be making a presentation on his book, "Redesigning Humans: Our Inevitable Genetic Future" Thursday, April 10, at 7:00pm at Town Hall in Seattle (8th & Seneca). Dr. Stock is being awarded the Walter P. Kistler Book Award, recognizing authors of science-based books that make a significant contribution to the public's understanding of the factors that may impact the long-term future of humanity. This important public dialogue is sponsored by the Foundation For the Future and is open to the public at no charge. (To assure a seat, please print your complimentary ticket from the Foundation's website: http://www.futurefoundation.org. Free tickets are also available at the event, subject to availability.)

Genetic engineering will be the suggested topic-of-the-week for the week of April 3.
