Conversation Week 2007 Conversation Week 2007 is over, but Conversation Week 2008 (March 24-30) is just on the horizon! Imagine a circle of eight thoughtful, sincere and inquiring people, ready to explore a stimulating and important question for the next 90 minutes. What question or questions would you suggest to such a willing group of minds and hearts? Become a Conversation Week HostHave you ever wondered what would happen if the people of the world talked to each other about the most important questions of our times - and the world listened? Conversation Week needs you to make this dream happen. Your desire to speak, listen and learn. Your participation as a host and organizer of one of the 250 conversation circles. The goal is to empower people worldwide to use the Conversation Café method to have these conversations - coordinated through the web so we can actually hear what's said around the world. Conversation Week is a celebration of the power of conversation to change the world. Hosts will convene face-to-face, small-group conversations with friends, neighbors, and strangers.
Our Conversation Week 2008 partner is Global Mindshift , an online dialogue community. They say, "To change the world, change your mind" and their over 6000 members worldwide have engaged in over 100 conversations that are doing just that. Through this partnership you will be able to host or attend a conversation in person in your community - or online. Online hosts will be trained in the Conversation Café method. This will expand our dream of Conversation Week giving the world a chance each year to hear itself think.The goal is to empower people worldwide to convene a meaningful, respectful discussion in their community. The organizers of Conversation Week want to honor and promote the act of meaningfully talking and listening to each other about topics that impact our daily lives.
WHEN? March 24-30, 2008
WHAT? Conversation Week 2008 is a celebration of the power of conversation to change the world. Hosts will convene face-to-face, small-group conversations with friends, neighbors, and strangers. The goal is to empower people worldwide to convene a meaningful, respectful discussion in their community.Hosts will be trained to convene the conversation using the powerful yet simple Conversation Café process, and participants will experience rich, respectful conversation right in the town square.
WHERE? Conversation hosts are being sought all around the world.
WHO? Anyone with interest and capacity to organize, advertise, and host a Conversation Café can be a host. Anyone with interest and capacity to share and listen respectfully can be a participant.
HOW? Three dialogue organizations with big ideas join forces to form the Conversation Week steering committee: Conversation Café, OrangeBand, and dropping knowledge. The core committee coordinates the logistical, training, technical, fundraising, and promotional aspects of Conversation Week.
